The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) was established by an act of Parliament CAP 213A of 1995. When it was establish it took over all the function and the responsibilities of management of higher education financing which was by then being managed by the University Student Loans Scheme (USLS) a department in the Ministry of Education

Who qualifies for TVET HELB Loan and Bursaries?

HELB provides Technical, Vocational & Education Training (TVET)loans and bursaries to eligible applicants in the public TVET Institutes recognized by the Ministry of Education (MoE), a member of the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) and placed by Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS)
HELB awards bursaries to extremely needy students pursuing Diploma courses, in Institutes recognized by the TVET authority (TVETA) and registered with Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI)
Direct Entry Self-Sponsored Students in the public Technical, Vocational & Education Training (TVET) Institutes recognized by the Ministry of Education (MoE), and a member of The Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI)

Print two copies of the duly filled Loan Application Form.

Have the form appropriately filled, signed and stamped by the relevant authorities and guarantors (for first time applicants only) and by the Dean (for subsequent applicants)

New 51 seater Bus for Nyandarua Institute

There was so much Joy and ululations at Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology when they received a brand new 51 seater bus. The Principal, Lecturers and students received and commissioned the bus at the institute.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the student leaders noted that it has been a worthwhile wait and profusely thanked the administration for listening and fulfilling their wishes, they challenged the students to make good the bus, especially translating its presence to improved performance. He also challenged the students to always have a positive and hope in all their endeavors reminding them also that those who are patient get good tidings coming their way no matter how long they wait.

Speaking during the ceremony the Deputy Principal lamented about the times they were embarrassed all the time they use neighbouring school’s buses when they go out for games, for being mistaken to be participating in secondary school games. But he noted that the embarrassment and mistaken identity issues are now over.

New 51 seater Bus for Nyandarua Institute

The principal Mrs. Nancy Njui was too elated to talk much, but she expressed joy for the arrival of the bus, pointing out to the students that its acquisition was meant to be a surprise, which the students acknowledged with bemusing and happy faces. He thanked the students for incessantly asking for the Bus, noting it gave the administration the impetus and push to acquire one. She told the students that it would now be easier and convenient for students to attend games activities, field trips and local travels. She also pointed out that this was just one of the many positive and new things coming up at Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology.

Among who addressed the students during the commissioning ceremony was the Dean of Students, Procurement Officer and some Lecturers

Later the bus was free for all to take a ride around the vicinity for as long as they wanted
