Welcome to Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) academia. We are very passionate to ensure academic justice to all NIST trainees. Our vision is always to make sure NIST continues to be a centre of excellence in applied research and innovations to transform positively the livelihood of human beings. Therefore, we do not lose sight and focus of our students, as our honourable clients. To NIST fraternity, excellence of students’ academic performance is critical. NIST continues to be a beacon of development with enough qualified and competent trainers in every course. The trainers offer relevant and practical skills and competences to the students. We also ensure trainers, trainees, and non-training staff work as a team to guarantee students’ maximum academic benefits. The students’ leadership (especially education CS and class representatives) is involved at decision-making, supervision and evaluation levels to enhance academic excellence. NIST principal, deputy principals, heads of departments, and trainers always work together to ensure NIST academic policy is properly implemented.
NIST has high class facilities to ensure our clients (students) are empowered with competitive and relevant skills and competencies in the various courses. WiFi is enhanced in most parts of the institute to advance online academic access.

In line with the vision 2030 and the government’s big-4 agenda, NIST offers quality diploma, certificate and artisan courses in Business Studies, Electrical/Electronics engineering, Automotive engineering, ICT, Building & Civil engineering, General Agriculture, Liberal studies, Agriculture engineering, and Food & Beverage. The major external examination bodies are Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB). Driving is also offered as a course (outside the mainstream courses timetable) and examined by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). We are also set and prepared to start Competence Based Education and Training (CBET) courses in January 2020 which will be examined by the Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC).
